What is alternative medicine?

Treatments other than conventional Western medicine are typically considered "alternative."
Alternative therapies are supported by years of use as well as research and as veterinarians,
we believe that some alternative approaches can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine.

Cornerstone Veterinary Clinic offers a range of alternative therapies that include
acupuncture, Tui Na massage, and food therapy.

What can veterinary acupuncture do for your pet?

The goal of acupuncture is to promote the body to heal itself. Acupuncture is a tool that can considerably improve pain management in a safe yet effective manner. It involves the insertion of needles into body tissue where nerve bundles and blood vessels come together. These groups of nervous and vascular tissue are termed acupuncture points. With acupuncture, we can help control an animal’s pain for other reasons conventional medications were either insufficient at doing so or contraindicated. Even more so, acupuncture has the ability to help manage many chronic medical conditions. Where traditional medicine reaches its limits and can play a role on a pet’s vital organs, acupuncture can often go further, to help mediate the condition thereby extending and improving our patients’ quality of life.

Our clinic offers a certified veterinary acupuncturist in Western New York. Dr. Garofalo has been certified in veterinary acupuncture. She has quite a following of patients who swear by her ability to move their Qi.

When your pet is in pain, so are you, and that is why Cornerstone Veterinary Clinic provides safe, pain-relieving acupuncture for your pet. These techniques may help your pet with problems such as paralysis, non-infectious inflammation (such as allergies), arthritis, musculoskeletal problems, gastrointestinal problems, and bodily aches and pain. When your pet is in pain, we will be there to provide relief.

For those pets that do not appreciate dry needing there is aquapuncture. We also offer electro-acupuncture to prevent muscular degeneration.

Our clinic offers one of the few veterinary acupuncturists in Western New York. We have been experts in veterinary acupuncture for many years. Acupuncture has relieved countless animals of chronic pains, allergies, arthritis, and other bodily issues.
